How can AI be defined

There is no single and unanimously accepted definition of “artificial intelligence”. Artificial intelligence (AI) is a set of different technologies that are combined in order to give machines the ability to act with levels of intelligence that are apparently similar to those of humans. Machine Learning (ML) is an AI technology that is capable of passing on learning to machines. Through data analysis, it is possible to define the actions that are necessary to complete an activity.

The innovative AI-based frameworks are focused on four main themes:


Perception

AI allows a machine to perceive the world around it by picking up and processing images, sounds, words, text and other data.


Understanding

AI allows a machine to understand the information it collects by applying analytics and extracting meaning and insights.


Action

AI allows a machine to perform actions in the physical or digital world that are based on understanding


Learning

AI allows a machine to continuously optimise its performance by learning from either the success or failure of its actions.

In business contexts, AI can mean either the automation of production processes or the provision of services through the use of robots. For example, Robotic Process Automation (RPA), which can also be scaled to administrative or service processes that include both digital and manual inputs.

HOW TO PUT IT INTO PRACTICE

Artificial intelligence will become the new driver of economic value for a company. But how do you apply it?

AI can take automation beyond the confines of rule-based deterministic computation into spheres we believe now need human judgment. This opens up a wide range of new opportunities for working in new ways with machines and to direct human talent towards jobs that are more rewarding.

Work smarter.

Machine learning is capable of extracting more meaning from very large and complex data sets than any human will ever be able to. In areas such as medicine, it is giving professionals a new set of tools that will allow them to make better decisions in less time.

Better customer experiences.

Using AI, a company can greatly improve its interaction with customers, for example by using digital assistants and chatbots to talk to them 24/7. Or by giving them personalised advice on products or services on e-commerce sites.

Spreading innovation.

From the automation of complex tasks such as driving to creating new cognitive interfaces of human technology that require no learning curve, this technology will in many ways overturn the notions that we have of so many industries.
